Bone Densitometry is the perfect tool for physicians to use for bone health screenings. This safe, easy, and quick diagnostic tool helps the Physicians determine the strength of patient's bones before treating the patient. The DEXA test can also be used to assess the risk for developing fractures. If your bone density is found to be low, you and your physician can work together on a treatment plan to help prevent painful fractures before they occur. DXA is also effective at tracking the effects of treatment for osteoporosis or other conditions that cause bone loss.
Bone density testing is highly recommended if you:
Are a post-menopausal woman and not taking estrogen
Have a personal or maternal history of hip fracture or smoking
Are a post-menopausal woman who is tall (over 5'7) or thin (less than 125)
